My blood boils when Dr Zakir Naik speaks... I swore to myself that to keep my sanity intact I would not watch any of his videos... But, I was forced to listen while researching for my South Asia essay paper.. I heard him speak about why Muslims can't sing "Vande Matarm" . He prohibited Indian muslims from singing the song " Vande Matram" on the count that the song raised India to the level of divinity because the Sanskrit words "Vande Matram" means, "I worship you mother"... Before, giving such "expert" commentary on a language you hardly know, Dr Naik, Please learn Sanskrit!!! Vande mataram means " Hail Motherland!" ... There is nothing Hindu/Muslim about the song!!
Although an acclaimed scholar of comparative religion,Dr Naik clearly does not understand the scriptures of other religions..He manipulates holy books of other religions to make his point...His interpretations of The Bhagvad Gita, Vedas and Upanishads are clearly wrong! He analyzes every non-Muslim religious text with an Islamic bias.. His method of finding analogs to analyse and interpret is juvenile and immature.. What Dr Zakir fails to understand is that Hinduism does not fit into the paradigm of an organised religion and hence cannot be studied in the same manner as Islam, Christianity or Judaism...
Zakir Naik's superficial debates enable him to gain appreciation among the simple-minded.. In order to encourage Muslims to be good Muslims he uses unscientific and unintelligent examples... For example, to discourage Muslims form eating pork he said ,"if you eat pork your nature will become like a pig's..You will start swapping your wives and indulging in dishonourable sexual acts.".(clearly unscientific huh?... Wonder how these pork-loving- Confucius-t-Chinese who swear by their honor would take his statement)...
Bah...!!! Shall not vent my anger !!!! I swear I shall not watch that ugly Mullah ever in my life again...*Pinky Promise*

dono this guy!!
Watch his videos on youtube dude...You'll either be amazed how people can be awe-struck by stupid arguments, or, you'll be proud of being Indian(because it's amazing that Indians tolerate a fellow Indian like him!!)
Zakir Naik has been repeatedly exposed as a liar and prejudiced preacher. In fact, a little online reading will tell you that he is quite an incompetent rote who understand very little of science. Interestingly, the arguments (‘pseudoarguments’ to be precise) he uses are not his own. He borrowed them from other Mulsim preachers like Ahmed Deedat and those other Muslims in turnborrowed him from a Christain doctor Maurice Bucaille who contrived these arguments in his book 'The Bible, the Qur'an and Science'. Bucaille was the family doctor at that time to Saudi Arabia’s king Fiasal and he wrote this book after reciving many favors from the king. Read more about Maurice Bucaille and his book online.
Hey Thanks a lot dude!!:):) Ill definately read the book:) And yes I've heard that Dr Naik was inspired by Shaik Ahmed Deedat.Haven't heard any of Ahmed Deedat's talks though
Deedat used the same false arguments, borrowed from Bucaille. In the 1980s, Deedat debated Christian scholar Anis Shorrosh a number of times. Shorrosh made some biting criticism of Mohammad and Islam. Due to this Shorrosh was assaulted by Muslims and he had to cancel one of his planned debates with Deedat in South Africa when Muslims started protesting against Shorrosh's arrival in SA for the debate.
@ DIPTI
Many thanks to you for calling a spade a spade.I have also written articles, which aim at quashing the bogus arguments given by Dr. Naik.Interestingly ,I have stated the same thing that his understanding of the Hindu scriptures is flawed . You can find them posted on :refresh.blog.co.uk

hey nice post.
there are many you tube videos proving that this guy is an idiot.
visit my blog http://stepstosecondpartition.blogspot.com/
I didn't think I would attract so many Hindu nationalists...That seriosly wasn't my point..I don't like Dr Zakir's method of studying HInduism because thats not how it should be studied.Plus, I'm against his method of substituting factual Gaps with beleivable fiction.
I am not against Muslims and Islam...Infact I think Islam is a very very beautiful religion and Kudos to Dr Zakir for doing so much for his community...Most succesful and rich Indians are Muslims, but, Muslims still remain a provished and undermined community. This is probably because the educated and rich Muslims hardly care to give back to their community...By opening the Islamic INternational School, peace TV and IRF Dr Zakir has done more than enough for his community...
I'm not a fundamentalist!PLease do not post fundamentalist links on my blog! I hope to see a secular India in a true sense...
Yup arvind I agree with you:)
I meant Musims are Impoverished in my previous comment...Pardon my gazillion typos..Sorry
Dear Dipti ,
Like to make it clear to you that there are two ways to promote your religion. Firstly , by bringing out better aspects of one's religion and other by derailing the beliefs inherent in others . Dr. Naik is surely following the latter. He is expert in trashing the beliefs found in other religions,to an extent that a large audieince comes to accept them without bothering to cross-examine.I am not against Islam nor breed hatred for its preachers but a well-planned campaign to tarnish the Hindu religion is not toleraable.

I think it is a matter of common sense that if a so-called qualified doctor like Naik starts public preaching, there is something wrong with his attitude. Instaed of spreading hatred against other religions and trying to convert others to Islam, he could really prove himself a worthy person if he would give all this time to treating poor patients for free and causing awarneness against different diseases. It is a pity that he himself is becoming a disease.
Ran across your post thought I should get it clarify why he says that.
Here's the definition of Vande http://vedabase.net/v/vande and it does define Vande as "let me offer prayers" or Worship in this dictionary http://sanskritdocuments.org/dict/dictall.html
And as a Muslim we only offer prayers or worship one GOD only. So he is right. So stop blogging hatred.
nope it doesn't it means "I bow down to you"... WHat is wrong with bowing down to your motherland?
Yes some people are psychotic enough to construct India into the mother goddess:Durga..Maybe thats how they perieve the song./...But on a literal level vande matarm does not imply i pray to you....I have learnt sanskrit for 8 years from teachers in a school(not from a website)...Im sure I'm not wrong...
And if such nitty gritty additions in a song piss you guys off..You should not even sing the national anthem...
because there is a line whcih says "bharat bahgya vidhata"
Vidhata means God in Hindi...
I am not blogging hatred I think Dr Zakir is spreading hatred. If you dont want to see your motherland as god thats upto you...The spirit in which you sing a song is totaly upto you...
I try to understand Muslim theology and I have figured that I also understand that shirking is the Biggest sin in Islam.
If you think "bowing down" is shirking...Then I have a question for you..WHy is it that you turn o the kabba while praying..Is it not to show respect? Or are you literally praying to the Kabba??
In many asian culture bowing down is a symnbol of respect...And it is so even in Indian culture..
Yes it does come from our religious practices..But looking at it only from a religious perspective is sadly a very narrow-minded and parochial view...
Here are some stupid things Dr Zakir said about hinduism:
Kalki avtar in our vedas in Prophet mohammad: Well , No..Becaue the birth of Kalki avtar was meant to be in INdia and was an avtar of Lord krishna..From what I've read about ISlam God does not take the form of a human being...You do not beleive in reincarnation..SO how can he even say that..He clearly has contradicted both religions...
Well said Depti.Dr Zakir is guilty of issuing contradictory statements.
Its seems that all your people are living in your own defined world. Ms. Dipti Cheerath, if you are so sure about your sayings, then why don't you step in for the argument so that entire world will get to know what is truth. But first brush-up your knowledge and don't say Hindu religion because Hindu is not a religion, the word Hindu was drived for region and not religion.
Dipti Cheerath and her like minded people I just want to say you all that on what basis you say that Dr. Zakir is wrong ? Your claim that Dr. Zakir is folling around is baseless and wihtout any proof. You, Ms. Dipti say that Dr. Zakir simply understands Hindu religion in wrong way, so why don't to clear which is the right way ?? Its easy and needs no inteligence to point-out fingers at others but it needs absolute knowledge to bring out facts and truth to people and thats what Dr. Zakir Naik is try to do.
Well, Mr anonymous the least you could do is leave your name so I could address your question.
I have already pointed our severa instances and more of why Dr Zakir's so-called "Deep knowledge" actually lacks understanding about the philosophical underpinnings of other religions.
I would have called Hinduism sataana Dharma(as it is supposed to be called,.sicne you pointed out how hindu is a nationality and not a religion) ,but, how many actually recognize the religion with that name...Its only a name after all...
And im getting pretty fed up with this debate ...If you guys adore Zakir Naik I can understand why you all are getting so defensive..He is only human and hence not infalliable is my only consolation to you...
I shall not take my words back because they are not wrong..And I shall not argue further..
I repeat again my intention wasnt to hurt a particular religion but to defend my own.
*santaana dharma...
Yes anyone who wanted me to impart knowledge here...:S:S Hinduism should be referred to as santaana dharma for the only reason that the word hindu referred to people who lived across the sindhu river and had a geographical conotation and not a religious...
"Hinduism" itself hence as practiced in india is a summation of all forms of spirituality that existed in that era within the Indian subcontinent...Several spritual icons of hinduism such aas shri shri ravi shankar have denoted what we know as hinduism as "indian sprituality" ...
The reference of Hinduism as "indian sprituality" has several negative effects for one it undermines all those religions that do not refer to India as their holy land such as Islam, Christianity ,zoarastrianism and Judaism....
Several other scholars such as Dayanand Arya set up teh arya samaj society and interpreted "hindu" scriptures and referred to his organisation fo teh religion as "santaana dharma"..Highest scholars and pandits in Hinduism even today refer to the smalgamation of "shruti" and "stuti" scriptures as snataana dharma and hence on those grounds that label seems the most legtimate to me...
But ofcourse opinions mayu differ..
I hope you are satisfied Mr anonymous? Or you want to know more?
@Mr Anonymous
Well, you wish to know more about Dr.Zakir Naik and are also interested in Hindiusm's real meaning.Like U to visit:http://refresh.blog.co.uk/2008/08/18/dr-zakir-naik-s-dubious-claims-4604892/#c9655139.
Here some very refined souls have dealt with all the shades of Hinduism, keeping in mind the bogus claims of Dr Naik.
Let peace prevail is all I can say...Seriously...
Hindu Muslim or Christian..We were all made by the very same creator..The fact that hindu homes have children and by the logic that children are a "gift of god"...Certainly we can't be that bad..
And seriously for all hindu fanatics, the same is true for muslims... I have yet to come across a Muslim who is any different from me, who reacts any differnetly from me..At the very core we are human..We've possesed timeless and cultureless emotions...
If at all Dr zakir strikes the wrong chord in my soul, it's because he promotes divisiveness in society...And I think "Allah", "Ram" or "God" didn't intend this...
